Creations with Purse-a-nality!

Happy Thursday! Today, I am going to show you a fun way to use some of the wonderful Jenni Bowlin papers in a different way!

These little nugget purses are wonderful little gifts you can give to friends or even make and give with a card! I found this little purse idea over on Splitcoaststampers a few years ago and have altered it for the size nuggets I buy at the time. I have even used the snack size candy bars and made it a little bigger!

Here are a few samples - keep it simple and let all the designer paper do the work for you or add an extra little touch with some stamping and a stamped image!

This template below shows you the measurements. The black numbers are your width and length. So 4.25" length, 1.50" width. The red numbers are your score marks from end 1.25", from that score mark 2.25", from that score mark 3.50". The red wavy line is your scallop edge if you choose to use a scallop edge. I have a picture with the solid color card stock (which is the template, the designer paper will always be a little shorter to save wasting) any paper.

Next, glue the designer paper to the solid cards stock template like this.

Then, fold on the score marks like this and punch a hole in the scallop ends for your ribbon to go through.

This is what the inside will look like after you have tied your ribbon through.

Then, you turn it over fold and punch for your brad, punch to add your primas, or glue down and decorate as above.

Cute & Classy Card Set

When these cute little Jenni Bowlin paper packs made their way into the store, I knew right away they would make up perfect card sets! So, of course, I had to give it a try!

Here's a peek at what I cooked up - a box set of these little 4-1/4" square cards!

Supplies:
Jenni Bowlin Papers from these collections:
Red/Black Line
Vintage Cream & Black
Vintage Red
Black Card Stock
Cream Card Stock
Deep Red Card Stock
Scallop Edge Black Ribbon
Palette Noir Ink
Martha Steward Edge Punch
Ornare piercing tool and mat
Mini Square Envelopes
Antique Linen Distress Ink and sponge
Self stick pearls or rhinestones
Two sizes of oval punches
Cutter with scoring blade

Making The Box:
Start with an 8" by 8" piece of red cardstock and score 1-1/2" in on all sides. Now, cut the edges of every other flap so that it looks like this:

From here, bend in the flaps so that you form a box. You will want to use a red line style super tacky tape to make sure your box stays held together well. Here's what the bottom will look like...

Making the top of the lid is very much the same. The top measures 7-1/4" and you will score 1" in on all sides. The center measurement will = 5-1/4" so that it will fit nicely on top of your base.

Now, it's time to deck out the lid! I used the bird paper from the Vintage Cream and Black, matted it on a 4-1/4" piece of deep red that I edged with a gold leaf pen. Add a 1-1/2" strip that was edged with the help of a Martha Stewart punch. Add some black scallop edge ribbon and then, a tag created by two sizes of oval punches. I used the "For You" from the Signs of Spring set. Add some gold bling and the lid is done! I should tell you, I did pop up the center image with some foam tape. Making The Cards:

This is where you can really let your creativity shine! Just think - with one paper pack, you get 24 color coordinated papers with 4 of each design. That means -- you could potentially make 5 of these sets with one of these little paper packs! Pretty cool huh?

I used the Timeless Quotes set for all my sentiments and I sponged distress ink on all of them. Since the cards are pretty self-explanatory, I'll just show you what I did. In some of the photos, you'll see I decked out the envelopes too! I just used the little floral scroll that is a part of the Timeless Quotes set and stamped it using the distress ink.

Timeless Tuesday!

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC7)!!!! Thanks so much to all of you who played along with us last week with the sketch challenge. Keep reading to find out the winner from last week's challenge.

This week Cindy Haffner is hosting. She is challenging us to use ribbon. You may think…ribbon? I use ribbon all the time. Of course, you do!!! We all do!!! I mean there are just so many ribbons out there to choose from. There are lace, organdies, ric rac, satin, twill, and grosgrain just to name a few. Then, there are polka dotted, printed, and stitched patterns to be had. And, if that is not enough, many of these come in different widths. Like I said, there are just so many to choose from. However, you may only use a certain type of ribbon all the time…yet you hoard a boat load of others. It is time to cut those ribbons that bind you….lol!!! Try to venture from your normal comfort zone or try to use ribbon in a different way. Do not fret, though. If you are not feeling awfully adventurous, any card with some ribbon will do!!!! We would love to see what you create either way!!!!

Up first is our challenge host, Cindy Haffner. She is using the Signs of Spring set. Love her color combo and bold pattern dp choices. She colored the basket with flowers so beautifully, too. Love all the Spring time colors. Love how she used a stitched ribbon with a knotted design with a heart charm. Beautiful, Cindy!!!!

Every thing is sweet, indeed, at Dee Jackson's!!!! She is using the beautiful and newly released Sweet Pea set designed by Marcella Hawley!!!! Gorgeous colors and coloring, Dee!!!! Love how she used the satin brown and antique gold reversible ribbon as the perfect compliment with the metallic chocolate cardstock she uses as a matte. Gorgeous, Dee!!!









Kimberly Crawford is using the Happy Birthday from the Many Sentiments set as the focal point on her card. She has layered her card with some Basic Gray Sultry dp. However, the showstopper for her card are the two ribbon flowers she has created and accented using ribbon from Flourishes. It just goes to show you that sometimes a beautiful card just needs a good sentiment and some fabulous accents!!!!! Beautifully done, Kim!!!!







Silke Ledlow is using the All Wrapped Up set for her bundle of packages and Chairs For You set for the fun sentiment. Love the colors and the elegant design. The cut work and created dimension really sets this card off beautifully. I love how she colored the ribbon and cut it out for added dimension. I love, too, how the package ribbon mimics the color of the actual satin ribbon shes uses. Great look, Silke!!!

Next up is Becca Feeken. Becca is using the newly released Ornamental Elements set on her card. I love how she uses the main element in the set as a background to the spellbinder's created flower and leaf accent. I, too, am amazed how the ribbon is used as more of an element to the card than an accent. It is absolutely stunning!!!! Great pearl detailing and framing, too, Becca!!!!

Betty Wright is last up this week. I am using the Summer on the Patio set. When I chose this set, I chose it for the assortment of summer beverages, the patio table and chair, and the chandelier. However, once I got the set in my hand, I was amazed at the number of pieces in the set and the designs. There are 35 images and sentiments in this set!!!! WOW!!! I love this pot of flowers. I added a layer of MB Fernbrae dp. I colored my flowers with some copics and added the So Very Thoughtful sentiment from the Many Sentiments set. I ventured out and used some pink ribbon. I rarely use pink ribbon. At least, I do not think I do!!!

Jenni Bowlin picture frame tutorial

Hello bloggers, Latisha here, today I will walk you through a tutorial on how to take a picture frame and fancy it up a bit with your favorite papers, stamps and embellishments.

Materials I used:

4 sheets of Jenni Bowlin papers

Ornamental Elements stamp set from Flourishes

Timeless Quotes stamp set from Flourishes

sponge brush

Modge Podge

Exacto knife

Wooden frame

Pigment ink

white card stock

Prima, button & May Arts ribbon...oh and glue dots

1. You want to start by ripping some of your paper into strips, that will be glued onto the frame with the Modge Podge.

2. Apply the modge podge onto your frame with your sponge/foam brush.

3. Lay your torn/ripped paper over the glue (modge podge)

4. After you lay your paper down, you want to go over the paper with the Modge Podge to seal the paper.

5. Repeat these steps until your frame is covered. I started out with 4 sheets of paper, but as you can see, I didn't use too much of each, I could have done 2 or 3 more frames. The Jenni Bowlin sheets are 4in by 4in.

6. Once your glue is dry, take your exacto knife and cut off the paper that hangs off the edges of your frame.

7. Using a pigment ink and favorite stamp, stamp your image onto the frame. I used Ornamental Elements.

8. Once the ink is dry, add embellishments. To adhere your embellishments to the frame, you have a few options, modge podge, red sticky tape or glue dots like I used. To finish off the frame I stamped a quote from the Timeless Quotes set from Flourishes onto some white card stock and put it in the frame. Waalaa a quick and easy project finished.

We all have yucky old picture frames sitting around our house or garage. If you decide to redo one that has a clear coat finish, make sure you sand it a little bit, its not required, but the modge podge works a little better when you use a porous surface. This is a great way to use up scraps too, wouldn't the new Basic Grey Porcelain or Marakesh papers also make a beautiful frame. So many possibilities!

I heard the Jenni Bowlin papers sold out, however they will be back in the store this week! If you make a project using your new papers and stamps I would to see it. My Newest Special...EVA

Hi All.....This time I have a really cool special for you....and guess what. It has a girl's name....no it's not one of my friends, or at least not yet. This time I am all about EVA!

Oh girl friends, I love, love, love the colors in this collection of Basic Grey papers. Just lucious chartruse almost acid green and wonderful shades of pink to eggplant....purely lucious.

I team it up with the BG collection of designer brads and a wonderful little green sheer ribbon I found in the store. The best part about this special is they let me include one of my favorite Flourishes sets in the grouping. So you want to know my favorite stamp set...it is Mixed Greetings.

The price for this special is $23.85, that's a 10% savings across the board on these items.

I even made some of the cute 4" x 4" cards, so I can use the brand new little envelopes that flourishes brought into the store. Now when I say it is "Hip to Be Square". You will know what I mean.

I used only papers from the EVA pad...how cool is that! I even put some finishing touches on the envelopes. I lined one and the other I stamped and colored the front of the envelope. Now I am not as good as the designers for Flourishes, but think I did OK. If you think so, please leave me a note and let me know how I am doing. I will even give these two little cards to one lucky person that leaves me a message on this post.

OH, I almost forgot, I used some of the black flat back pearls from the store and of course the new 4 1/4"envelopes. You can add these to your order if you like as little extras.

It's time for me to work on other projects so I'll say goodbye for now. Next time I'll have a really special and different kind of choice for you, but you will have to wait 'til April 1st. Here is a hint: It is all about girlfriends!
