BLOG CANDY AND WORLD CARD MAKING DAY

That's what I will be doing today---making cards! I have a special project that I have really wanted to work on for a couple of weeks. Since today is World Card Making Day I think it is the perfect day for my project. I will share this project with you upon it's completion.

I would like to get you involved in todays celebration of this great craft that we share, so Flourishes and I personally will be giving a number of prizes of blog candy to encourage to participate.



This is just SOME of the great items (yes there is more, I could not get in in the photo) that will be given away, there will also be some stamp sets from Flourishes. This will be a share prize, but there will be plenty for everyone that wins.

So what do you have to do to be one of the winners???

Simply make at least one card TODAY with any Flourishes image. Then you must either post it to SCS then link it to the SCS Flourish Forum under World Card Making Day or you may send us the link directly at flourishesllc@cox.net . YOU MUST make the card today(no previously made card will be considered) to enter, but you may make as many cards today and enter as many times as you like.

I will give everyone until 12:00 noon CST to post their cards, then I will begin to divvy up the goodies and give it all away. There are are going to be some lucky card makers out there, and one of them can be you. You may only win one prize.

Alphabet Sets

Alphabet sets - something every stamper and scrapbooker needs, and you never seem to have enough! This journal cover was created using the JustRite Brayton Font set, and images from Flourishes Wedding Essentials set.

The scrapbook page was created using the Special Occasions Font set for the name and date at the bottom of the page.

Flourishes Friday!

TGIF Everyone! It's that time when we look back at all the fabulous things our Friends of Flourishes did this week out in blog land. I mean to tell you, the offerings just seem to get better and better each Friday! Since tomorrow is World Cardmaking Day - you might want to let these ladies inspire some of your weekend creations!


I love the rustic green and shades of brown that Cindy used for this card. It is perfect for fall! That ribbon is just lushious and I love the way she colored the tree from the Forest of Trees set!

Joan Bardee was at it again making magic with a paint brush and her Twinkling H20s!! The watercolor wash that she created in behind her coneflower silhouettes is done with those bright sparkly paints! I love the soft look she created! And, did I mention that Summer Botanicals is one of my favorite sets? Joan did it up well!

I actually gasped when I saw this next creation from Laura Fredrickson! She said her Bird and Vine set might not ever see white paper again! She is loving it on the decorative paper and I have to say-- I am too!! All those little extras she included like the punched edge and the ribbon and bling make this card sing!

Cindy Haffner took a Christmas image from the Flourished Christmas set and did it up in a non-traditional way. Her card makes you think a little out of the box, doesn't it? I think it looks very regal and rich and I love the swirls, flower and charm she added to give her card a little something extra!
Last week Becca made a lovely cone decked out with the Bird and Vine set. Today, it's a Victorian fan. Oh my! Where does she come up with this? I want to be inside her creative brain for just an hour or so! I am sure that is all I would need to be completely overwhelmed!! For directions on this fan and to read a little more about the history behind them, you need to travel over to her blog!

INSPIRED & GRTEFUL

Today I want to focus on the great designers that comprise the Flourishes Design Team. I think that these ladies each have an extraordinary talent that they so unselfishly share with us. I know you feel both inspired and grateful to these wonderful ladies. But what does it mean literally to be inspired. Well, here is the dictionary definition:

inspirational in·spi·ra·tional (-s̸hə nəl) adjective

1. of or giving inspiration; inspiring

2. produced, influenced, or stimulated by inspiration; inspired [noun] arousing to a particular emotion

or action

Well I think that says it all. I am sharing one of my cards which was totally inspired--in fact maybe even CASED from Linda Duke from her post of Sept 21.

I was making a card for a friend for mine that is very ill. I wanted to incorporate the SCS challenge using the colors of Baja Blue, Really Rust, and Chocolate Chip. I also wanted a card that was feminine.

I think that Linda is the "Queen of Feminine". Her 21 Sept card had just stuck in my mind, she HAD inspired me.

I could insert many cards from our wonderful designers that inspire me. Their talents and styles are so varied, there are endless opportunities to spin off in our own directions.

That takes me to my next point of the day.....how do we reward the great ladies for all they do....how do we take it to the next level. How do we show our gratitude? Well again I returned to the dictionary to get a clear understanding of this word and here is the dictionary definition:

grate-ful grate·ful Pronunciation: \ˈgrāt-fəl\

Function: adjective

obsolete grate pleasing, thankful, from Latin gratus — more at grace

1 a: appreciative of benefits received b: expressing gratitude <grateful thanks>onyms: stirring

Yes, appreciative of the benefits received! That is what we at Flourishes want to do in your behalf for the designers that inspire you to use our images and the wonderful array of papers, ribbons, and other supplies, stampers toys, necessities, and embellishments from Flourishes.

We therefore created a benefit code for each designer....so that you can tell us which designer moved you to purchase. By telling us this we will gladly take on the wonderful responsibility to reward the designers and show them that we appreciate their inspiration.

So the next time you make a purchase( remember next month release begins on the 8th-Wed) you will have a wonderful opportunity to show your appreciation. Flourishes Featured Stamper #19!

Happy Monday everyone! A new week - a new "Featured Stamper!" We had fabulous entries this week! It was hard - as usual- to pick. But, one card really struck me for the layout and design. And so... without further ado....


This week's Featured Stamper is......

Stacy Morgan!

I really loved what Stacy did with the Bird and Vine set. It's a cool monochromatic look with a very interesting layout!

Don't you love the patchwork effect and the way she tilted the image to the side? I also love the fancy ribbon woven underneath. It's a lovely card done up with one of my favorite sets!

Stacy's second entry was something that I thought was just a perfectly crisp and clean card with an interesting color scheme for the holidays. She used the Rejoice set. I love the accent row of stamps and pearls along the sides!

Congrats Stacy! Your name will be thrown into the hat for a stamp set of your choice. You won't have to wait long-- the drawing will be this Wednesday! Keep those submissions coming ladies! I think I have said this a time or two - but we love seeing all the wonderfully inspiring creations that you come up with!

Flourishes Friday!

Need a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing this weekend? Well, we have it here with the Friends of Flourishes team! These ladies are amazing and we just can't wait to see what they will come up with next! This week does not disappoint!

Let's start our showcase with what I consider a real showstopper! Becca Feeken used the Flourishes Birds and Vine Set to create some "Tussie Mussies" with a vintage Christmas feel. I honestly have never heard this name before, but in essence, it's the cone shaped piece that holds a bouquet or goodies. Oh my! Isn't it regal and perfect for the holidays? I love all the attention to detail! If you'd like to see additional photos and find out how Becca did this - visit her place HERE.

Next up is Cindy Haffner! She created a lovely silhouette card with one of my all time favorite Flourishes sets - Spring Ephemerals. Don't you love the pairing of the light blue and kraft colored paper with the black? I sure do! Cindy created a classy high contrast card - it's something she does best!
Coffee anyone? This card by Cindy Lawrence using the Coffee With Friends set has a table set for two! I love the rich colors - there's a touch of brown but it's completely set off by that vibrant red, green and blue. I love the little additions Cindy always perfectly adds embellishments to cards to give it a little something extra. In this case - the brads and the ribbon both add a bit of pop!Speaking of pop, Laura Fredrickson has plenty going on in her card also using the Spring Ephemerals set! I love how Laura isn't afraid to take a risk or two when it comes to color. I would never have thought to pair this baby blue with a hot pink, but doesn't it work?? You bet it does! I think her card is absolutely stunning! The sentiment Laura used is from the Fantasy Floral Garden set.

And last, but not least is the fabulous Joan Bardee. She actually did surgery on her stamp set to make sure it could line up like this as a border! She used the Poppy Patch set and cut off the stem from one of the flowers. She said, and I agree, that with clear stamps, it is so easy to ammend them. When you want to use the stem, just align it back on the flower on your acryllic block and you are good to go! That's not stinkin' thinkin'!! Not to mention, Joan's card turned out absolutely beautiful. I love how Joan watercolors her images. She is always able to keep a vibrant color - which takes just the right touch!
