Winter White Wedding Lace

Today, you may notice something is a little different on the Flourishes Newsletter. I have added my picture. I just thought you might like to put a face to the name that is writing this post, since there are three Flourishes and Julie, our DT coordinator, and we all take turns authoring the articles. I want to get to know each of you as well and when I visit your blogs your avatar is up so I can put a name with a voice so to speak.

And while you are getting to know me up close and personal I want to share a new joy in Mike & my personal life.....we are getting a new addition. We are getting a child ! NO, I am not having a child, but we are becoming permanent custodial parents of a 15 year old! His name is James--Jocko to us, and we have had him in our care on and off many times in his short life. I expect that Jocko will change our lives in many ways and either keep us young or make us grow old even faster...LOL

Now to our real business at Flourishes! Every Friday the Flourishes Bloggers take their turn to shine and yesterday it was all about monochromatic dressed up or dressed down. It was also day three in our fabulous December release week. I am featuring the Lace & Trims set today. This set has a very special place in my heart. Marcella and I used old lace and my great, great grandmother's wedding day handkerchief for this set. Sometime later I will share more on my love of old lace.

For my part of the Festive Flourishes Friday Bloggers I used the central image in the set. A large image that is 5 1/2 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide. It was stamped onto vellum with Versamark then heat embossed with white detail powder. To give it some extra depth I used my silver Spica-Copic Metallic pen to outline and define areas and then smudged it to not leave a line. Kaiser flat back pearls in Champagne were added to the center of each of the flowers in the lace. I used my Japanese Paper drill to punch holes down the center of the lace pattern then wove the small ribbon thru it, placing another but smaller pearl over the hole. To add a touch of glimmer I used the tiniest Kaiser rhinestones. Three slightly off white paper flowers, each studded with a tiny rhinestone, a few green leaves, ribbon bow, streamers with a Love sentiment from the set made my lace panel ready to apply to my card. The card base is a 5 1/2" square done with Ice White Metallic from Flourishes. I embossed a panel of the same paper with my cuttlebug folder, the cut it in half and adhered it to the top and bottom of my card base. Then I attached the vellum lace panel....Viola

Thanks for stopping in for a peek over my shoulder. I have been very busy in my corner of the Atelier at Flourishes...my little section is called "Creative License", and I have been very busy there. Tomorrow I will share more of my card creations with you.

Here is a look at Lace & Trims. Remember we have a Special Bundle Price for all three sets released this month.

Festive Flourishes Friday with a challenge!

Hi all! Hope you liked last week's challenge that we threw in! Well, we are back with another one this morning!

This Flourishes Friday is all about the crisp and clean winter white - dress it down with a monochromatic theme or dress it up with a sparkly flair. It's up to you! The only requirement is using one of your favorite Flourishes sets! If you want to play along, simply leave a comment on this post or upload your card to Splitcoast using the keyword FFFC2. Keep in mind, we’ll be doing this fun Friday challenge all month long and there will be a special drawing for those that play all four weeks! Details on what is up for grabs -- to come!! If you are just joinging us - track back to the first Flourishes Friday challenge on the first Friday of this month. You can make up past challenges to qualify for the giveaway! The first week's challenge had the keyword FFFC01 (that is a zero not the letter O).

What inspired the challenge this week? It was this card below by the talented Cindy Haffner. I loved how she created texture and dimension with an embossed background and the floral element from the new Thinking of You set creates a soft, crisp, clean and serene look. So, the gals all decided to follow in her footsteps and stamp it out in winter white!
Want to see how others interpreted this challenge? Be prepared to be blown away! First up is Becca. Do you even recognize the stamp she used? I actually scratched my head and said -- what stamp is Flourishes? Oh my! She used the Flourished Oval to make a flower!!! Check out the full set HERE so you can see! Amazing!
Christine Okken grabbed her I Love Roses set and made this breathtaking beauty! Oh my! It was like this set was made just for her! I love the layers, the texture and the gold accents. It's a real stunner!!
Christine's second offering is a card featuring the All That Glitters set. She creates a winter wonderland with stunning shades of white and blue with rhinestones... OOOoooooOOO la la!
Kimberly's card takes the branches from the All That Glitters set and makes them razzle and dazzle with a dose of sparkly embossing powder -- just like a branch with fresh fallen snow!! Her simple design is accented too with lovely pearls! Can you say elegant?
Betty's take on the winter white challenge is "clearly" stunning! I love how she added the beautiful flourished element onto the clear cradstock and then added in some gilded details with the golden rose, the gold sheer ribbon and plenty of little gold peals! It's a real WOW card!!
There's nothing like the soft look of a poinsettia dressed in white and that's exactly what Dee captured today! I love the layers, the pearls and the poinsettia background she created as well! Do you see how she personalized it with her Just Rite stamper??? How fun is that?
Here's a peek at all the dimension Dee created with her card!
And, last but not least....Latisha created this peaceful scene with a lone evergreen (Forest of Trees) waiting to be decked out for the holidays! I love the sheer ribbon and the clean and simple layout! I can see making one of these beauties in the comings days as I rush to get my cards out-- couldn't you?

I hope you enjoyed our walk through this Flourishes winter wonderland! Why don't you try your hand at winter white? Don't forget to link here or upload to SCS using the keyword FFFC2! Remember, participate in all four challenges and free stamps are up for grabs! We'll unveil next week what the winner for the drawing will receive!

Have a fabulous weekend!

I love Roses
If you love floral stamps then a Rose set is a must have and Marcella Hawley gives us a beautiful set. How classy is Laura Fredrickson's Rose card! It has a wonderful stained glass look.

Thinking Of You
A special stamp set when you need just the right words to convey heartfelt thoughts. We see this set being used in both solid and multi colors. Cindy Haffner's card is so very delicate and soft.

Lace and Trim
Look closely at Laura Fredrickson's card below. Her main image is from the rose set, but the background lace image is from the new Lace and Trim set. The set was created based on actual antique lace and trims - doesn't it look like real lace in this card?

Featured Stamper -- Week 29 Winners!

This one was a tough one. Super duper tough. Each and every card in the gallery this week was worthy of walking away with the title of best card! I had a winner and then two mintues later I'd say - but that one is awesome. I changed my mind a million times! So, if you want some great inspiration. Click HERE to see all the entries. You won't be sad you did!

Onto the winners! From the forum, the winners are........

Stacy, Chrstine and SCS name -Tobaby!

Oh my, I love each and every one of these creations for different reasons! First up, Stacy. She did this uber creative purse that is made to have her coffee themed cards made with the Coffee and Friends set sit inside. There are four in all and they are all darling!

Here's a look at the purse.....

And here's a look at the cards that fit inside!

Next up, Christine. When I first saw this card, I gasped. It is so rich in color and her watercolor technique is to die for. I would love to sit down with her and have her show me how she does what she does. Amazing! She used the Figs and Pomegranites set!

Last but not least ---- Tobaby! I think this is just such a pretty card made with the Rejoice set. The inked up background that repeats the pattern of the main image is great! I might look at this stamp differently now that I can use a section of it as a background! Just goes to show, you need to think out of the box and see stamps for more than just a saying stamp or a background stamp! On top of all that, I love, love, love the glitter and the way the image was colored! I bet this beauty really sparkles!

Now... onto the gallery! You know - where I pick a card that was in the FLLC gallery that I thought was pretty or creative. So.... that winner is Michelle B.! And,here is her card!

So, all four will be entered into the this month's drawing of a free stamp set of their choice!

Keep those entries coming! We LOVE to see what you do with Flourishes stamps!

Oh, and don't forget! Wednesday is the release of our new images for December! They are all to die for! You won't want to miss Faith's Chat With A Designer in the SCS Flourishes Forum Tuesday night from 7 to 9 eastern time. We'll be chatting away and have some samples to sneak peek! It is bound to be a blast!

Festive Flourishes Friday!

Just hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling, ting, ting, tingle-ing too! Come on it's lovely weather for --- Festive Flourishes Friday! And, you can join in all the fun!

This week, it's all about the colors of Christmas-RED and GREEN! So, grab your favorite Flourishes set and let your creativity flow! That’s the only requirement! You don’t even have to make it a Christmas card. If you want to play along, simply leave a comment on this post or upload your card to Splitcoast using the keyword FFFC01. Keep in mind, we’ll be doing this fun Friday challenge all month long and there will be a special drawing for those that play all four weeks! Details on what is up for grabs -- to come!!

So, let's start the parade!

Don't you love how Becca used one of the flourished borders from the Flourished Elements set for her birdies from the Birds And Vine set to sit on? Very cute! They just look so alive sitting there! I love how one is even looking up to see the bird in flight! Very creative!

I absolutely LOVE the vibrant colors of Cindy's card. This is just too pretty! I love the decorative paper she used. I love the punched and paper pierced edges and I love how she added glitter to the ornaments from the All that Glitters set to make it just sparkly and festive!

Betty's ready for a sleigh ride with this beauty! Don't you love the antique flair to this card? She used distress inks to give her card that warm and cozy look! Love the vintage Christmas feel!
Now Dee and I were both on the same page when we did this challenge -- because we both are doing double duty this week! In addition to the Red and Green-- We both take part in the Friday Stamp Simply challenge which - this week - is to make a Christmas card with stamps that are NOT Christmas! You can add a Christmas sentiment, but the image had to be something that was not designed for Christmas! So, Dee used the Just Rite alphabet in the Times Roman font (on sale now--25%) to spell out her Noel and also added those fabulous flourish from the Wedding Esssentials set. Do you see the extra sparkle she added? Adds a bit of whimsy!
For my card, I used the Mardi Gras set and stole the crowns from the set to make me "Three Kings!" the saying, "Wise Men Still Seek Him" is from the City of David set. See that Christmas Glittered Paper sticking out on top? I love the razzle dazzle of this paper! And... it's on sale now! I thought the card turned out well and -- I love the Mardi Gras set for the crowns! Can you see - King-For-A-Day birthday cards? Fit-For-A-Queen gift packs? Oh my, the options are endless!
Since we made this challenge up mid week - Christine already made a card ripe for Christmas using beautiful shades of blue! She is actually at a retreat -- (waving to Christine) hope she had fun!! Her card is a real stunner! That crisp blue and white is to die for! I love, love, love the angel from the Rejoice set (it's on sale now you know-- 25%!)

We hope you enjoyed taking this "ride" with us this morning and remember-- if you want to join us in the challenge, make a card and link it in a comment here or upload to Splitcoast. This week's key word is FFFC01!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
